Is Simply Seaweed Australian made? Where is Simply Seaweed made?

As Ascophyllum nodosum does not grow in Australia, it must be imported. Our seaweed is sourced from Canada and Ireland and imported into Australia, where it then is locally packaged, managed and distributed.

Under Australian Consumer Law (ACL), an imported product must undergo a substantial transformation in Australia before it can be claimed as Australian made. Packaging or repackaging alone does not constitute a substantial transformation. As Simply Seaweed is imported and packaged in Australia, we cannot claim it is Australian made. Consumers should be aware that simply repackaging an imported product in Australia does not, by itself, make it “Australian made” under Australian Consumer Law.
